Callan is a Wisconsin-born multimedia artist based in New York. He was a founding programmer for the queer moving-image collective Seen that programs and supports self-defined and noncomforming work across the country. He has a BFA in Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He currently works as an archivist with the artists Rosaire Appel and Thornton Willis, specializing in abstract and historical works from downtown New York. He has curated photography and painting exhibitions in NYC and teaches workshops at the expanded cinema nonprofit Mono No Aware. Aside from his independent practices, he frequently collaborates with bands/musicians to create music films, live visuals, and lighting design.
